Hi, I’m Eileen.

I've been designing products that are integral to people’s everyday lives for over 14 years from redesigning Activity at Slack, creating growth products like Wrapped at Spotify, and helping people access video and audio journalism at the NYT. Currently, I’m a principal product designer at Slack leading all things Activity and triage. 

I work directly with product, engineering, research, and leadership to shape direction, not just execute on it. I thrive in identifying and defining complex, gnarly problem spaces and designing elegant solutions.

When not designing, you'll find me painting and tending to my garden in Washington, D.C. 🌱

Leading the redesign of Activity, Slack's second most-used surface, from a limited notification feed into a unified triage and productivity hub. Reframed the core problem from recall to triage, built alignment across product and engineering leadership, and shipped a new version now used by 60% of Enterprise WAU daily.

IC design lead for Slack Connect — Slack's fastest-growing product and strongest retention and upgrade lever (4M+ WAU, 57% of upgrade trials, 4x faster growth than the next product). As Design Lead for the Network product area, defined strategic vision across three cross-functional teams while mentoring a high-performing design team of three, directly influencing product roadmaps and business outcomes.

Led design for a product area focused on user acquisition through delight and differentiated product experiences, including the viral Wrapped campaign and interactive web games. As a designer, defined the player-first IA vision for Spotify.com (+2M MAU), identified an SEO UX strategy that drove +4.4M incremental Y1 visits, grew the mobile web player to 1M+ monthly users, and shipped podcast quote sharing that increased share rates by 30%. As a manager, led the in-product design team for Wrapped campaign for two years; managed, mentored and developed a diverse design team across multiple product portfolios.

Led design for a variety of multimedia products at the NYT during rapid expansion of audio, video, and immersive AR/VR formats. Designed the video and audio players; the audio story page that gave The Daily and other podcasts a permanent home on their web & app platforms; and the slideshow experience that served 38M pageviews within 48 hours of launch. All three are still live and largely unchanged almost a decade later.
